Patients at St. Charles Hospital Enjoy New Flat Panel Televisions and Expanded Selection of Channels:
(June 7, 2006) Patients at St. Charles Hospital have new ways to occupy their time while recovering – and they don't have to leave their beds.
St. Charles Hospital is leading the charge of hospitals upgrading patient rooms with sleek new, flat panel LCD televisions and offering patients an expanded selection of television stations, video-ondemand patient education titles and popular Hollywood movies – 24 hours a day.
"We want our patients to have easy round-the-clock access to expanded television options and first-run movies, just like they would at home," said James O-Connor, Executive Director, St. Charles Hospital. "With these choices, patients are able to relax and enjoy entertainment choices that they would when at home. In addition, they can access a variety of video-on-demand educational programs that enable them to stay informed and in control of their care."
In April, St. Charles Hospital installed 260 slim healthcare LCD televisions in patient rooms. The TV-s provide a home-like appearance in patient rooms and offer beautiful viewing for patient enjoyment. St. Charles, in conjunction with TeleHealth Services, created an informative welcome video for patients and family members. The 6-minute video runs continually on the hospital marquee channel and includes a video tour of the St. Charles Hospital campus.
"It is vitally important to us to help our patients adjust to being in the hospital," said O-Connor. "We want all our patients to feel welcome and familiar with their surroundings and feel this new initiative will have a positive impact on their recuperation."
