Telerent Leasing Corp. Announces Acquisition of Hospital Communications Systems, Inc.:
(June 1, 2006) Telerent Leasing Corporation announces its acquisition of Raleigh-based Hospital Communications Systems, Inc. (HCS), a provider of nurse-call, security and interactive television systems to healthcare facilities throughout the U.S.
The TeleHealth Services division of Telerent is the leading provider of television systems to U.S. hospitals and the acquisition of HCS is intended to expand the product line offering of TeleHealth Services. "TeleHealth is responding to the convergence of various communications technologies in hospitals by offering a broad-spectrum of services tailored to the healthcare market," commented Telerent CEO George Fleming in making the announcement. "HCS has a well-earned reputation for putting its customers first and delivering excellent support for all its products."
HCS founder and President Steve Sholtis noted that the acquisition by Telerent comes at an ideal time for his company, which was founded in 1987. "We have a strong customer base in the mid- Atlantic region for nurse call and hospital security systems, and we also serve several national accounts for television systems," Sholtis noted. "With the financial backing available through TeleHealth Services, we can add to our product and services offerings and reach a geographic scale not otherwise possible."
HCS's management team and employees will become part of Telerent Leasing Corporation. Sholtis, who will be General Manager of the wholly-owned HCS subsidiary, says, "I am extremely pleased to know that the employees who have worked to build HCS will have additional opportunities to build the combined company over the coming years. "
