Tigrnet: High Tech Amenities Bring Added Comfort to Hospital Patients at Pascack Valley Hospital:

(February 9, 2006) Soon, patients at Pascack Valley Hospital will be able to stay in touch with family members and friends via email, surf the internet, view educational videos and watch movies without leaving their beds.

Pascack Valley Hospital is revolutionizing the patient experience by wiring patient rooms for internet access and interactive television. In addition to the entertainment options that will be offered to patients and their visitors, the hospital will have the capability to streamline service requests, provide hospital information, deliver real-time satisfaction surveys and educate patients via on-demand videos.

"We selected the TigrNet system because it's the most interactive and user-friendly solution on the market," says Joe Palombit, Chief Information Officer at Pascack Valley Hospital. "TigrNet offers the best features for our patients."

At Pascack Valley Hospital, patients will use a specially designed pillow speaker or keyboard to access the TigrNet system. Through colorful graphics and a simple user interface, TigrNet will enable patients to access the internet, email, educational videos, games, movies, television programming and a number of hospital services such as housekeeping and the gift shop.

Amenities such as those offered through TigrNet improve patient satisfaction. Patients who are connected through the TigrNet system are able to handle simple service requests like room temperature adjustments and dietary requests, freeing nursing staff to spend more time on medicallyrelated caregiving.

"TigrNet eases the burden of hospital stays by giving patients home-like amenities and services at the bedside," says Joel Harris, TeleHealth's Vice President of Technology Development. "It's an ideal way to educate patients while providing them with an assortment of entertainment and communications options."

The TigrNet installation at Pascack Valley began last month and will be available to patients in the Maternity and Orthopedic sections by early March. For more information about Pascack Valley Hospital, visit www.pvhospital.org.
