TeleHealth Services and UNC-TV Announce Partnership to Bring New Channel to Children's Hospitals:

Raleigh, NC- April 28, 2009 – TeleHealth Services, the nation’s leading provider of healthcare on-demand patient and staff education, healthcare televisions and communications solutions, and UNC-TV have announced a joint initiative to bring UNC-KD, a digital television channel providing public television children’s programming 24 hours a day, to children’s hospitals throughout North Carolina. The initiative will also further the goal of introducing digital television service into local hospitals.

In order to make the UNC-KD service more accessible to children’s hospitals, TeleHealth Services is absorbing the cost of adding UNC-KD to the hospital television line-up. TeleHealth Services is the leading provider of television service to hospitals in the United States, and UNC-TV is North Carolina’s statewide public television network.

Tom Howe, UNC-TV’s Director and General Manager, speaking about the initiative, said, “We are delighted to be able to extend this offer, in partnership with TeleHealth Services, to the children’s hospitals in North Carolina. We believe this offer will be a welcome service to both children and parents during a stressful time, and we are grateful to TeleHealth Services for making it possible for our children’s hospitals.”

George Fleming, President and CEO of TeleHealth Services’ parent corporation, and a member of the UNC-TV Board of Trustees, added “We’re delighted to be able to make UNC-KD, a wonderful channel of high-quality, commercial-free educational children’s programming, available to the children’s hospitals in North Carolina. Public television exists to serve the public interest, and this is a great example how public-private partnerships can bring the benefits of new technology to children in need.”
